Hi all.
I’ve never been to the Broads before.
I’ll be starting from Richardson’s near Staltham. Once on the boat can anyone suggest moorings near shops for topping up the groceries. TIA

Lindam

Hi there ,
In stalham itself , there is a tescos supermarket, also in the high street an excellent butchers along with other shops , you'll be best of staying in the boatyard whilst getting supplies , yard is quite close to the town
Don't know how long your afloat for , but if you need to top up with supplies , There's a supermarket in wroxham ( Roy's ) along with a few other shops ,
Potter heigham has lathams , bit of everything there ,
Womack water , has a butchers , and small local shop in ludham village,
Ludham bridge also has a small supply shop ,
Horsing also has a few shops in the village ,

steve and vicky
( apparently a moaner)

Hi Lindam,

I have compiled a map showing locations of basic shops within a walkable distance from the river marked by S with a black circular background.  Let me know if you would prefer it as a PDF.

The map is only a very rough guide and may well be out of date. Some shops may no longer exist and some may be missing.

Some stores are located directly on the riverside others not too long a walk but you may need to ask someone to point you in the right direction.

You may find the purchase a full size map useful.

Hope this helps Smile

Kind Regards
Alan...

Great Yarmouth fair walk to Supermarkets
Acle - the kiosk on the quay could be open but limited stock due to small size and long walk to village and Coop is now on the other side of the village (ex Budgens)
Brundall again fair walk to Coop again ex Budgens
Reedham shop open 7 days till 8pm on next road up from Quay (Fish & Chips next door Th Fri & Sat till 8pm
A North rivers expert will no doubt be along soon.

There is also the Granary at Ranworth - cafe, shop for basics inc newspapers, and I've gotta mention the lovely ice creams. Shuts promptly at 5 though.

If you are moored at Wayford Bridge, it is a short walk in one direction to Meales market garden shop for many fresh choices. In the other direction, the garage sells bread, milk, papers and other basics you may need.

Oh yes that's a good point about Wayford Bridge. We've been along to that garden centre place too. We had a cuppa in the cafe part  then got some fresh produce for the next couple of days.

It's also worth remembering that as you take a walk along the lanes in Norfolk there are sometimes opportunities  to buy fresh potatoes, fruit and veg from private garden stalls and sheds. Look out for little signs. We have in the past bought bits and pieces from a garden shed just along from Ludham Bridge Moorings at Johnson Street. Just make sure you've got change for the little honesty boxes.

If you go up as far as Coltishall there is a post office just a short walk from the common whic sell a few items and a bit further along there is the village with a supermarket and butchers. The trip up to Coltishall is a lovely peaceful run.
