Simondo. You find yourself on other forums. This one isn't lighthearted or engaging. You are offended by the format.

I have to ask the question; why on earth do you bother posting here?  Question

This forum is very engaging - when it needs to be. Debate is allowed to flow and contributors allowed to voice opinions without fear of being censored unnecessarily. I think maybe Simondo posted in an endeavour to cause friction. Good job we are used to the pebble droppers.  Evil Grin

Paladin, love the throw away lines re past present and future
But ref your statement
'My modern house has insulated floors, wall, windows and roof, but, if I want to put up a shelf, I have to use special plugs or find the wooden frame, because the plasterboard won’t carry the weight like the brick/breezeblock walls of my previous house did'

Try putting up similar in my house.... clay lump !! but it's lovely and cool in summer and easily warmed up in winter.... progress  Pah !!

Merry Christmas everyone  Smile

In answer Steve:-
Because this is the perfect thread to say the reason why I don't.

Not causing problems Dreamer I'm not that small minded I was just giving my honest opinion (note mine and not anybody elses or try to sway anyone with my opinion) as to why I don't post on here much. I still visit regularly and will contribute in future no doubt but over the last few months/this year I have lost interest and that in part might be the reason to the original post, plus time of year etc.

Oh yeah Happy(ish) Christmas  Wink

I find the comment about the format interesting. While the forum may not run on the latest platform, with all the bells and whistles, it is extremely easy to navigate. I can very easily see a long list of latest topics and dip in and out of them, as I please.

When the BA changed its web site, it just spread out across the screen, making constant scrolling a necessity. Facebook pages are similar - very linear and difficult to find content. Other forums that have switched to the latest technology have lost a great deal in usability. The usual reason given to those who complain is that the older technology is no longer being supported, so ‘upgrading’ was compulsory i.e.  not what the consumer wants but what the tech company was forcing them to have.

Fortunately, this forum runs on homemade coding, and, while a few things, like the search facility and ability to post certain attachments, could be improved, I am very pleased that Richard hasn’t gone the way of others.

As I post this, there have been 11 threads running in the last 24 hours including this one.

Within these threads are 4 people asking for and receiving help or advice.

Flonker, I would say your concerns have been addressed.  Smile

Steve: It ebbs and flows. Of late the ebbs have become more frequent. Hence my post.
