Hemsby Broads Rescue was paged by Humber Coastguard yesterday mid-morning to reports of a woman in the water at Hickling Broad. On route is was confirmed that the woman had been assisted out of the water and was breathing and conscious. However, we were still required to proceed to the scene to offer assistance and ensure safety.

Once in scene members of the crew assisted the first responder with immediate first aid and pain relief for the injuries  sustained. Bacton Coastguard team also joined us on scene and assisted with the safe evacuation from the water's edge and the continued treatment with the paramedic from the Ambulance Service who had also arrived.

Once it was clear the casualty was in the safe hands of the medic and Coastguard, Hemsby Broads Rescue were stood down to return to base and continue with beach restoration work to assist a local resident whose property was at risk die to high tides and erosion.

Hemsby Broads Rescue was paged at 22:43 on the 13th April by Humber Coastguard to a vessel near Barton Broad that had suffered a small fire earlier in the evening. The Fire was dealt with by the Fire Service. However later in the evening it was felt prudent to assist the occupants who had remained on board to relocate the vessel to a safe mooring.

Also on scene were Bacton Coastguard Team. The vessel was towed by Hemsby Broads Rescue to a safe mooring nearby and once secured Hemsby Broads Rescue were stood down and returned to base in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Our thanks to all the crew particularly those that remained at the station and assisted with the maintenance and clean down, ready for the next call.
