As I was travelling down Fleet Dyke the Air Ambulance circled and landed at St. Benets. As we turned up the Bure, the paramedics were just arriving on the mooring. Further along the mooring, 2 rangers boats and the ILB were moored up and I could see a male lying on the mooring footpath. More than that I know not.

Luckily, on this occasion the outcome wasn't too serious.

Hemsby Broads Rescue was paged by Humber at 1300 today to assist the ambulance service with the evacuation of a male who had jumped from his pleasure craft onto the bank near St Bennetts Abbey, landed awkwardly and broke his leg. Also paged to assist were Bacton and Winterton Coastguard teams.

Due to the severity of the break, it was determined by the lead medic on scene that the assistance of the Air Ambulance and doctor were required. On arrival of the Air Ambulance, intravenous pain relief was administered and the injury immobilised.  Once the casualty was stable the Lifeboat, ambulance and coastguard teams carried the injured man by stretcher to the Helicopter for onward transit it the Norfolk and Norwich.

Our thanks to all involved in the operation and to the crew who remained at the station and assisted with preparing the Broads Unit for the next call for assistance.
