Call out 31/12/19

Hemsby Broads Rescue was paged at 20:00hrs by Humber Coastguard to reports of a Female in the water at Wroxham.  Also in attendance were Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service, Norfolk Police and East of England Ambulance Service, Winterton and Bacton Coastguard teams. On arrival the female was recovered by a throw line by Norfolk fire service.

The Police are currently investigating the incident. Mental health is an ongoing issue particularly at this time of year and often all that is needed is for those close to us to take time to talk and reassure. Stay safe and on behalf of the Crew of Hemsby Rescue we wish you all a prosperous and safe new year.

Hemsby Broads Rescue were paged today to assist with the evacuation of an elderly gentleman living alongside the river at Potter Heigham, he was suffering from breathing difficulties and had also had a fall.

Also on scene were Winterton Coastguard, Broads Beat and the East of England Ambulance Service. Because of the remote location and ground conditions it was only possible to evacuate using the Hemsby Broads Boat.

The casualty was made as comfortable as possible and transported to the care of the medics. Ground conditions were difficult and we are all very grateful to Ben Goose and his father for their assistance in recovering our truck which had become bogged down in the poor conditions during the operations.

18th January 2020, Team tasked along with HM Coastguard LOWESTOFT to a report of an upturned canoe on the River Bure, near the yacht station.  Gorleston ILB was also tasked to the scene, fearing that a canoeist may be missing, we were all relieved to find nothing less innocuous than a floating inverted builders barrier.  The ILB recovered the item and a search of the river and nearby was conducted without sighting anyone in distress.  #006/20

31st January 2020. Team tasked by Humber Coastguard along with our flank team from Winterton to 'Asda' at Breydon bridge.
Unfortunately, and with much sadness it was to take our 'missing person'  back to their family.
Our thoughts and prays from Gorleston CRT and Winterton CRT are with the family and friends at this time.

These are always the hardest and most difficult call outs it affects us all but we pride ourselves with giving the dignity and respect all our casualties deserve.

Special thank you to the ASDA cafe for our teams welfare.
