Hemsby Broads Rescue was paged late afternoon on the 15th to reports of a vulnerable female who had left home and was last seen heading toward the river near Staithe Way Road Wroxham. This was of concern to the local authorities due to previous incidents.

Broads rescue launched close by to conduct a covert search of the area. We were all very happy to hear that the vulnerable female was discovered during the land-based search, hiding in a bush near the river and taken into the care of the Ambulance Service. Hemsby Broads Rescue returned to our launch-point and returned to base.

Thanks to Winterton Coastguard Team who were also on scene helping to coordinate another successful conclusion and assist with the search.

Yesterday the coastguard helicopter was hovering over Womack Water for a while, other personnel were in attendance as well.    Some one was winched into the helicopter.  We were told that some one had fallen in but have no other information.

A bad day on the water is better than a good day in the office.

Hemsby Broads Rescue was paged at 2315 on the 18th to assist in the evacuation of a husband and wife from a pleasure cruiser south of Thurne. The husband was suffering from a suspected infection that required hospital treatment.

The location of the craft was such that it was not possible to evacuate without the assistance of the rescue boat. Ably assisted and coordinated by Winterton Coastguard both persons were safely transferred to Hemsby Broads Rescue and transported by river to the Thurne slipway, where they were transported by taxi to hospital for treatment.

Once the couple had departed in the taxi Hemsby was stood down and returned to base ready for service again. Thanks to the crew and the Coastguard on scene for the professional and smooth operation and to the crew at the Lifeboat Station who assisted with the clean down and preparation for continued readiness.

Hemsby Broads Rescue were paged on the evening of the 24th September at 21:20 to assist in the evacuation of an elderly lady from a cruiser at Acle Bridge.

The casualty had sustained a suspected hip injury on the cruiser and Hemsby was tasked to offer assistance to the East of England Ambulance Service and Winterton Coast Guard team.

After initial assessment and care from the medics on scene the casualty was secured to a stretcher by the Coastguard team and Hemsby lent a hand to move the casualty to the ambulance.

The Hemsby crew returned to station at 22:20 and with help from the crew manning the station, during the incident, equipment was prepared for service once again.
