So easy to do ,  leaving the inverter on.   Never mind all's well that ends well.     Enjoy the rest of your holiday.

Hi all,

Does the inverter run off the domestic batteries or the batteries used to start the engine. I have always thought that the inverter was run from the domestics,  Question

Kind Regards
Alan...

My immediate thought was also that the inverter should run from batteries other than the starter battery.

So in theory you should always be able to start the engine and eventually recharge all of your batteries.

The boats that I've been on with invertors always had them running off the domestic batteries, leaving the starter battery to do it's job no matter how long you left the invertor on, usually when the battery voltage drops too low for the invertor to work properly a sound is heard, once heard , never forgotten!

I do remember several years ago one of the Barnes boats had a switch you had to change over after starting the engine so that the starter battery could/would be recharged.

But surely if this boat was the same the hirer would now be aware, and would not be suggesting the inverter had caused it.

It was the boatyard's suggestion to replace the batteries. I didn't actually speak to them, my son did so I'm not quite sure what the reasoning was.

HiGary, it was me who gave you a shout as you went through Reedham around lunch time today. Take car with your speed, the Ranger on the launch at Reedham went for his speed gun but you were too quick for him on this occasion!!!! Can be a tad expensive if you err too much. Have a good holiday.

Thanks Dykedweller,
my son was driving at the time. He'd not long taken over as I wanted to take some pictures of the swing bridge. I'll be much more circumspect on the way back through.

We cruised from Oulton Broad to Norwich today and are going to spend some time in Norwich before heading back north later in the week.

Well, we cruised from Norwich to Reedham this afternoon but couldn't get in at Reedham Quay. Managed to get in at the Ferry Inn after a close encounter, during mooring with a Broom 345 and an even closer encounter with the ferry itself. Fortunately no contact made with the Broom and a minor nudge to the ferry, which was moored at the time. Managed to get in at the 3rd time of asking, but just needed a bit of time for my blood pressure to drop......

A quick question, why are there so few public moorings in the Brundall area?
