Lovely place but not sure there's enough moorings and as the meetings normally self catered not sure Sonia would be to have her moorings tied up for 24 hours by people who aren't eating there.

Maybe it would be nice for the people that normally do the catering to have a year off , after all Sonia is very competitive for food pricing would make life easier for all concerned and they will deliver a breakfast to your boat if you so desire now who could ask for better than that ...

Could be wrong, but think the annual meet is pretty much fixed at Ranworth and the Saturday closest to the longest day. That said we did a few times arrange a separate meet on the Southerns, a few years ago now. Pyes Mill was the location in those days. Nothing to stop someone using the Forum Events link at the bottom of the page to setup a Southern meet.

I wouldn't be surprised if ur right there , some times it seams as if the northern side is all that matter's as every event seams to be organised on the northern rivers Frown

The annual event is organised there and the owner of the forum, Southern based gets there each year. I think it is because the annual meet is meant to be as inclusive as possible and for any hirers, which historically meant a Saturday start, to stand a chance of getting there, it had to be local to the majority of the hire yards. Ranworth Island is also probably the largest single expanse of mooring you can reserve which is not tied to a pub, and therefore lends itself to a BBQ. That is probably why Pyes Mill was chosen for the Southern meets. Like I suggested, linky thing is at the bottom of the page, and I do believe Richard is even suggesting a Winter Warmer this year?
