"I started a similar thread a few days ago, in "another place". Even though I stated the thread was for notices about the road works / traffic problems only only, it too rapidly descended into a pointless discussion for  or against the NDR when there is nothing we can do to stop it or get it, some people just can't read. "

Quite agree.
I stated that I started this thread to inform of possible travel disruption due to the ongoing works.
If you want to argue over the merits or otherwise of this road, please do it elsewhere or no-one will bother to view this thread for the reason I started it!
If it carries on, I'll ask for the non-informative posts to be deleted and the thread locked.
These works are going to be disruptive for many of us for a couple of years so please take heed.

Whilst it would not be for me to contradict a learned colleague, there have been and will continue to be further feasibility studies for crossing the Wensum Valley.

I dont make bets  and will not live long enough to see this out, but i guarantee it will come long before the dualling of the Acle Straight!!! Smile

MM.
There certainly have been feasibility studies in the past. I was even asked for my opinion by someone heavily involved in the planning of the project.
That same person now assures me that the road will stop on the A1067 as it is "impossible" to cross the Wensum planning wise.
I hope, but doubt, that he has got that wrong.

As Capt Brian points out it is not called or intended to be a bypass so there is no pressure to complete it.

BB. We cannot be too precious if a thread that one start drifts. That happens all the time on here.
At least in this case the drift still covers the same subject albeit a different aspect of it. Others end up commenting on entirely different subjects altogether.

Edit to add.
MM the A47 Acle straight (known as the seven mile straight when I was a kid) will probably still be single carriageway when we, our children, grandchildren and great grandchildren have all gone toes up... So you could be right that the upper Wensum might just feasibly be crossed by then.....    Smile

Well the Wensum will probably be silted up by then so you'll be able to drive straight across Playful Wink  tounge-in-cheek

You joke TT...

As you will know the EA are removing all sluices, mills etc from the flow of the river. The intention is to get a wider, shallower "natural" chalk bed river.
There will be places to ford it no doubt....

Surprised there should be any works related to NDR in Coltishall/Horstead or Wroxham. The nearest the road gets is south of Spixworth and Rackheath.

According to the press(!)these works are all about removing trees and vegetation ready for construction proper to start at the end of March.

Regards
M & M
