I thought this may pass a few hours away by looking back over the last 10 or so years of the NBF.
We all know there has been up's and down's with threads and new members asking for help when they first come on board but despite the various helpful  replies to their requests we do not see them again.
Other members come and go for numerous reasons, some return after a period of absence or change of heart.  Nothing new there as most Forums find this happens.
Interests change, people move etc.

So this is a short list of what I have found of interest over the many years that I have been a member on here.
There will be others who find their selves interested in other things that has happened.

I guess I must start off with the very first meet up held at Stokesby.
http://the-norfolk-broads.co.uk/viewmessages.cfm?Forum=22&Topic=1286&keywords=stokesby%20meet

I had my Freeman for about 7 months when I attended the very first meeting.
It was SO good to meet – as compared to other meetings – a small number of member and most who are IMHO still some of my best boating friends.
That meeting was so popular that we had to find another venu to handle other boating numbers.
Ranworth was suggested – that location has been there ever since.

For that I thank Steve and Vicky who are the main organizers but I don't not wish to leave out all the other people that have helped over the years.   So all I can say to the others is - Thank you.!

Other people gave their time freely, The bands that came over to entertain us with their music,
The RNLI attented to give advice on boating safety and Lifejacket checks.
Broads Beat enjoyed an after noon giving advice on boat and equipment protection against thefts.

We even had the Radio Norfolk Treasure Quest come to one Meet as we had the final question tucked away on the Island.

A brief  look back at some sunny and wet meeting :-

People join together when things do not seem to work out quiet as hoped.
I look back to fund raising for the Forum funds.

The first Broads Un Covered Calender was produced with many people offering to bare all to get into this calendar .
That fund raiser seems to stick in my mind for some reason !!

Who would like me to produce another can email or PM me Smile

Some photograph auctions helped raise funds for the NBF.

The Maltsters want a defibrillator.
Members certainly helped out to increase the fund.

We had our first Cruise in Company in this period.

With others to follow too.
The MTB102 joined us as did the Norfolk Wherry's and the Hampton Safari Club .
Links here show some.

When it comes to helping other boaters who may get into trouble the NBF are certainly in the front with out a doubt.
A member found his boat had sunk near the Beauchamp Arms on the River Yare.
This is a long thread but it does go to show what a lot of old and new members can do to help other people.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Icw3gaQFhec  full video.!

Thouse who could not attend gave some funds to help with the expenses and pumps were donated by a local Company, with out these we could not have raised her.

So that is a quick look at “ The Forum Past” so what will 2015 bring?

Lets hope for Sunny days, stiff breeze, but above all lets had :-

LESS BICKERING AND MORE BOATING.

Happy New Year to you all.

P.S. Dont forget about the Calendar !!!!! ;-)

Also a time to remember some of the members who became part of our lives, that have now sadly moved on to that great broad in the sky, departed but not forgotten.

Well I normally try something different each year just for fun.

Well this year I am arranging something for the meet which should be entertaining and interesting to try.
