Do you know how high the boat is? Most boats go under Ludham Bridge. I saw one go through the other day with the windscreen up. Lots of clearance.
Next time I am at the bridge I will have a look at the height board.

Hi ,
The air draft at Ludham bridge normally is between 8ft 6 and 9 feet. A useful quick guide is that the footpath under the bridge is exactly 8 feet from the roof (I actually measured it many years ago when I owned Windsong and we changed the canopy to give a height of 8`6) just guestimate the water level below the path. I dont trust the height boards as they are always getting clobbered by boats aborting at the last minute!

Leading on from the bridge height thing, over the holiday I was in conversation (Broadside induced!) over whether it would be possible,or indeed practical,to employ one of the new D.I.Y.laser levels onboard to determine clearance. Placed on the highest point, if you saw a red spot on the bridge- no-go.
What do you reckon?

Sounds like a good idea in theory, but it would probably not work to well in bright sunlight, also I think you could face possible legal and safety problems.
I found this piece of advice on the net:

Please always respect that these are powerful units capable of causing distress and distraction. Never point towards people working , or driving this may distract them and cause accidents , extra caution required around people with spectacles or potential magnifying products that could intensify beam , also be aware of reflective materials like Glass or Mirrors that could reflect beam in places you did not or would not expect."
Just think, what if all boats had them?
That Broadside's got a lot to answer to!

Here's another picture of a Birchwood 340 we hired in 2004 and had a great holiday onboard.
The mould is a bit top heavy, fingers crossed it goes through Ludham Bridge for you, for future reference I can confirm an Aquafibre Pearl 35 mould (like San Francisco from Stalham) will fit through St. Olaves bridge sideways! Hope this helps

PPS (!) - Saw Fair Diplomat under early stages of construction at Herbert Woods site in October, didn't realise at the time it was going to be a hireboat, so apolagies for no picture taken, and fingers crossed they have cut out and installed the windows for you now!

I just had this mental image of all these boats milling around potter, with lasers firing away like something out of star wars.
One of the nice things about a yacht is that when the mast is down it's usually horizontal so you can use it as a sight to check the height.

If the air draft of 9ft 8 you found is correct then alas you're stuffed for Ludham & probably St Olaves. It's well worth ringing the boatyard & trying to speak to someone who can tell you for sure what the air draft is - could they have modified the standard boat to be more Broads bridge friendly?
