Hello forum members, I just wanted to say hi and thank you for all the help and hints i have picked up whilst browsing these pages over the last few months. I have also been an avid youtube watcher and wish to say thanks to Robin and im sure other forum members that i have likely watched as your efforts help a lot.
I have been wanting to take my family on the broads for a few years and we have now taken the plunge!
My mind, after much research and going round in circles was firmly set on Pacific Diamond, What a looker she is! I know looks isnt everything in a boat but im a bloke remember. Unfortunately she was only available for 6 nights and i was determined we were to have at least a full week for our maiden broads tour so i held off.
One more day of head scratching and i could take it no more.
My gut still said start south as i wanted space and also wanted to let the kids (8 and 10) experience the trip into Norwich amongst other southern highlights i'd read about without the pressure of 'having' to do the north/south crossing.
I hit redial and booked Pacific star for the 13th sept. Thanks to Fiona at Pacific for her patience.
I am now, at 50 (just) the most exited person in my house and probably town.
Q. Those in the know, please confirm the Star will fit under the bridges to Norwich? However much research you do something obvious always slips my mind. Did i say i just turned 50 Smile
Regards to all, David

David hi and welcome,

I hired Pacific Diamond for a week at the end of April this year.  Nice boat and very nice people at The boatyard.

You shouldn't have any problems going to Norwich with Pacific Star as long as you have the canopy and windscreen down through the bridges and as long as you keep to the main river and not go through the loop at Thorpe other than near lower water.

Have a great holiday Smile

Kind Regards
Alan...

Hi David

I'd like to say you have, in my opinion, chosen to hire from one of the nicest boatyards on the broads. Richard, Fiona and Michael are a superb team and you will find nothing will ever appear to be too much trouble for them.

We have hired with them 3 times. First on shadow last year, then on Dawn in April and again in May on Princess. We are booked to have Star at the end of September so please treat her well Smile

I can tell you we had a good look around Star at the end of our May holiday and we were very impressed. The heads (toilet and shower) are THE biggest ive seen on a boat. The seating is very comfy and the electric canopy will make life so much easier, no cranking of handles Wink . Hope you get to do a fair bit of cruising with it down.

All in all you've made a great choice for your holiday. Oh I think you will make it all the way up the main river to Norwich without having to lower the canopy or screen Smile

Have a great time and don't forget to update us on how you get on.

Life isn't measured by the

but by the number of moments
that take your breath away.

Yes I stand corrected and make Steve right.  You should be ok with the canopy up.

I see that Pacific Cruisers state the height with the canopy up at 8ft. This is very handy as I have found boatyards normally only state the height with the canopy down and tell you to put the canopy  down at all bridges.
This can be a real pain should the weather be bad.  Good on Pacific Cruisers. Smile

I believe the tightest bridge is Trowse swing bridge being 9ft clearance at average high water.

Kind Regards
Alan...

Its also nice to hear you viewed her and then booked which gives me more confidence. I will do my best looking after her for you.
