Does not come out well on Tripadvisor.

Hmm reviews - I did read them on Booking.com saying...

Great:
"The staff at Winelodge were extremely friendly and helpful, especially the head of house. We had a slight problem, but after talking through it with that member of staff, it was all sorted! It is such a nice place to stay in. I have no problem with going back! Highly reccomended."

Terrible:
"There was no one on reception at any time. The only way to get into room or building was either a come given by a lad behind the bar ( anyone could have seen this as the book with the code was out all the time) we had to get on hands a knees to be able go enter the code as very hard to see in the poor lighting.main area stairs etc not cleaned and it was obvious someone had been smoking in the building. Rooms we're above winebar/club so no sleep until it closed and people stopped clattering around outside this was 3am and then kept awake longer by drunk guests."

With such a huge swing from great to terrible in the same place, in the same month - I really take these reviews with a pinch of salt. End of the day I need a place to bung my gear and sleep at night and it can't be that bad.  I'll let everybody know how I get on...

I always use Tripadvisor rather than the sales sites. I am looking to see a lot more above average than below and take a look at the more recent ones especially those below average. Most hotels get some bad reviews, I just check it is not the norm. Have a nice stay.

Not a place that I would wish to stay but the food is good enough if not exceptional. It's the nightclub that would spoil it for me. Sorry that I don't have any spare rooms at the moment.

It is either the Winelodge place - or the Wherry Hotel and the Wherry Hotel want £138.00 for a room - that difference is my train fare and a few pints of beer.

If was staying a weekend  or more I'd look elsewhere.

It is close to the 'action' at the yacht station so no need for a walk/cab back to a hotel further afield.

Anyway maybe I'll go to the club till 2am and show the locals some of my moves Wink

Re that night-club, Robin, being 'grab-a-granny' night might dictate the pace of your moves Evil Grin

Robin, stay in the club till 4.00am, then breakfast and first train home, you will not need a room then. Smile

A "club", is that the same as a discotheque.  LOL

discotheque? Isn't that one of those places where they play gramophone records at an excessive volume?
