BroadAmbition, one question, if I may.

Exactly when were you notified that your CIC could not use the lock?

This is ridiculous now. Why have Griff's posts been removed?  It is one thing accusing ex posters of having their own agendas and yet another of removing ex poster's valid posts.

This amounts to the same thing, own agenda.

Griff's posts have been largely censored for no good reason.  What you see now is not what he posted.  While I'm on the subject why leave a post that says censor this then.  As if to say no we didn't.  I saw Griff's post he said about the business's on Oulton Broad being equally as guilty about being insensitive to the death of a holiday maker.

I don't agree with that view because the businesses have commitments to their customers who have expectations which would have been let down for no good reason.  This is not a view against the expectations and planning of the salty CinC

I now realise on reading again that Griff appears to have edited his own posts.  Take it back about censor this etc at face value Griff appears to have chosen to leave that there.

I think ull find that the original poster has edited his own post to zero content as it tells u that at the bottom of each edited  post , and my remark afterwards was ment in a light hearted way .maybe its time the mods stepped in n closed this thread off as its going nowhere apart from down hill .

Sorry, your memory is not serving you at all well. I've heard from BroadAmbition that he was first told on the Friday. Evidently the tragic incident did play a part in the closure of the lock to the CIC (as well as to other traffic). What transpired after that initial decision is still shrouded in fog. Had the decision taken place before the incident, I would agree the possibility of a 'conspiracy', but now I'm inclined to think it was just down to human error.

Some people will never learn....
I read Griff's original post of the 15th and there was no earthly reason that it should have been edited. The points that he made were perfectly reasonable and for the life of me I cannot see how they were beyond the TOS.

When there was the last mass exodus of members from here it was largely because of over zealous modding.
Since then the modding has generally had a lighter touch which has been very much to the benefit of the forum and to the credit of the mods.
Why are we slipping back into the bad old ways now?

By the way....I suspect that Griff did not edit his own posts and that it only appears that way because he commented on the editing already done by the mods.

"Why are we slipping back into the bad old ways now?"

I would have thought that was glaringly obvious.
