Any idea of how many moorings available at Berney Arms ? looks to me like it could be crowded with boats from the North on the NBF Cin C over nighting as well as all the boats from the South on the Salty trip ? not counting boats not involved, it could be an early introduction for us all if we have to double up ?

Right, Lastdraft - Correct, Berney Arms is likely to be busy - Good - More the merrier.  There is a fair length of moorings down from the pub past the windpump, and if we have to double moor, then double moor we will do, in the normal fashion, big uns on the inside, little uns on the outside, I can't see this being much of an issue.

Finny - Yep, this thread will be as good as anywhere imho. Londonrascal will be doing a blog / video of sorts no doubt.

Ray - You hang in there mate, 'Your' group will be whoever you are with at the time.  We will be all together in one large flotilla for probably two thirds of the way there, it will only get broken up slightly for entering harbour and then it is likely to be only 2 x groups anyway, it's nowt to worry about.

----------------------------------------

Timings:-

Craft/Crews - as you are aware will be at either Stracey Arms or Berney Arms moorings (Including the River Flotilla)

We have to be at Haven Bridge for the lift booked for 1100

Stracey to Vauxhall bridge is 8 x miles - I will leave it to you skippers to get yourselves there on time, However it would be prudent to arrive slightly early, and meet the rest of us between Breydon / Haven Bridge.

Berney Arms to Bure mouth is around 4 x miles.  Therefore we will slip and proceed no later than 1000 BUT I'd prefer if we slipped at 0930 to meet up with the craft coming down from Stracey Arms moorings.

Add to this any of the river flotilla that would like to meet up at the same time?

That means potentially 30 odd craft in the same vicinity of water, but it's a large expanse of water with plenty of room as long as we give a wide berth and leave plenty of room for any other vessels coming down/up the Bure around that yellow post.  If we can take 50+ craft on a NBF C-in-C from St Benets through Horning to Salhouse without incident, we can manage 30 up river of Haven Bridge.

Then come 1100 the salty bottomers can proceed down river through Haven Bridge with the river flotilla making there merry way over Breydon.

Simple?  Any questions / suggestions?

---------------------------------------

'B.A' will be sailing from Stalham Friday 11th forenoon, calling in at Acle Bridge Fri lunchtime then sailing early afternoon for Berney Arms.  Low tide at GYA being around 1600 - this is perfect.  We will overnight at Berney Arms - Craft welcome alongside if you wish

That's all for now, I'll update the 'information post' yet again then.

Edit:-
Forgot to mention the wx forecast is improving by the hour, the sea state for Fri 11th at 2100 now down to 0:6m from the North.  If it doesn't get any better than that (Which it should) it will be good enough.

I've been looking at the sign up list under 'Forum Events' and I'm a bit lost to be honest, some forumites who have signed up have since cancelled and cannot remove their names from said list.  Therefore take a look at the 'information post' (Post two of this thread) and if your boats name is not on it please let me know, same thing applies if your boats name is on it an no longer should be.

Moorings - there are just 24 available, I have allocated these on a first come first served basis, so if your boats name is not on the list for OBYS reserved moorings - please make your own arrangements with the Wherry Hotel or wherever you decide to please yourself.

Elec - if you need elec - please let me know before Thursday Lunchtime, otherwise I hope we can just take pot luck.  I have just e-mailed OBYS with what is I hope the finalised list of boat names.

Mutford Bridge lifts at 1515 and 1645, if your boat has 13ft airdraft or more - then you need a lift, please be at the bridge for the promulgated times.

Thanks

Just checked the sea stare forecast again, Sat 12th now showing on their page, swell - now down to 0:4m at 1200 falling to 0:3m by 1500 from the north which means of course a following sea - it's looking good.

Let's get this straight - Mutford Lock is 21ft wide: Sunbird is 14ft (or thereaouts) with fenders down. So are there any salty-bottomed craft 7ft wide? I need a buddy! Playful

Signed, Billy-no-mates Ray.

You do!  it is also 72ft long so a bow on, on the opposite side of the lock to you tight up will do it!

Having just checked my wx forecast station they are now forecasting 0:4m falling to 0:3m swell from the North 'up our chuff' with a North West wind strength of between 3 and 5 kts

Bring it on  Cheers

If the weather is warm and sunny I would expect the breeze to shift to the East about 1200 to 1300 as the sea breezes kick in, as I expect you will no be far off shore. You will also be wind over tide fora bit so your wave period will shorten slightly. Overall looking very good for you all. BON VOYAGE.
