WJM14 Waterproof. Chris Crowther. ISBN 978 0 903094 23 Pretty thin story with hopelessly stereotyped characters. A couple of quite atmospheric descriptions of the scenery, but on the whole not worth buying.

I am at present about half way through "The Norfolk and Suffolk Broads" by Robert Maltster. Pub. Phillimore& Co., 2003. ISBN 9781860775093. Not always the easiest read but an extremely interesting and absorbing history of the Broads, its landscapes and people. Lots of fascinating old photographs. If we come through the other side of this into a familiar world, I shall be happy to bring it with me to donate when we come over in 2021. Chris

Robert Maltster also wrote "Wherries and Waterways, another good read about the area. Still available from places like Abe Books.

My lovely partner has just given me for a birthday present the six novels based on and around the Norfolk Broads by David Blake. Going to have my nose in the books for some time. Sure I'm in line for a good read let me know?

I wouldn't waste your time Flash, factually inaccurate in so many ways re locations, Police, time/distance lines etc and plots as lean as wafer thin ham. There are a host of similar book series around, one set based in North Norfolk, another in Snowdonia and yet another in Cumbria, they are all very similar in content with the only thing that distinguishes one set from the others are the place names, if Mr Blake has ever actually been to Norfolk he has failed to take on board any actual facts about the place, a few of his more glaring errors include, calling riverside footpaths Towpaths, having the Norfolk Police issuing parking tickets to boats moored on private land and having Wroxham Police Station housing dozens of Police officers with it's own Murder squad. The errors are legion the writing poor, but don't let me put you off.;) Dave
if it is to be it is up to me.
