It is time for me to once more pull my hair out, get lost under cables and cameras and turn a boat into something of a mobile studio.

Once again the Norfolk Broads is going to be coming to you LIVE! - and I'm not messing about this time - for coming in April you can watch the journey over Breydon Water and up the River Yare, past Reedham and onwards passing the Sugar Factory at Cantley then continuing to Brundall (may loose the mobile reception at this point) but will get it back and head right into the heart of Norwich ending at the Yacht Station.

With up to five cameras and outside audio it will be  over 5 hours of live action to enjoy wherever you are even on your phone or tablet.

The actual date of the broadcast and times will be posted at a later point - the boat is booked - Distant Horizon 2 which since I have no idea how it looks internally was a gamble but made sense to go from Acle. I also did not want a forward steer 'low down boat' for such a journey - so just need to look at tides and so on.

Let's hope for good weather!

On the Southern rivers a dual steer made a world of difference... its is marvelous to see beyond the reeds!

So I've made one heck of a miss calculation.

I'd based everything on tides for the 19th April, then forgot the fact I booked the boat for the 22nd.  Yay my mind dunce

This means that the timings to go through Yarmouth have all moved a few hours forward and so because of such I would not be able to complete the journey in one go from Yarmouth to Norwich and then the next day return from Norwich back over Breydon.

Going over Breydon at almost 3pm on the Tuesday -  getting (for example) mid point between there and Norwich having to moor over night then completing the journey on Wednesday - but then not being able to turn back in time for the 4pm tide window back over Breydon on Wednesday afternoon, would mean 3 days out of 7 'down south'.

Because the only reason of planning to do this journey was to stream something new - for me personally it would not be worth the hassle of going all that way, fuel used, equipment brought and set up if it was not to be able to go out live and then be sorted.  Honestly it is hard on the nerves going along the river hour after hour being watched by many.

To add insult to injury I now have a boat with a high airdraft so can't even contemplate going up past Wayford or Wroxham bridges. Indifferent

Hmm I'll see about this, but as things stand I'd say no live streaming in April then after all. Sorry about the bulls up there.

Doesn't it just do your head in when you have everything planned to the last detail and then you have an - urh!! what moment.   We all do it.    I am sure we will all look forward to when you can do your live stream to Norwich when may be tides will be more in your favour.

Back to the drawing board.     Smile

"3 days out of 7" down south! What's wrong with that? There are many would look at that as the wiser move!

Will the boatyard not let you change to a different boat with a lower airdraft? Really enjoyed your last outing from the warmth of the house. Can't wait until we are back on the water at the end of May.

Looking forward to the next installment.

Robin don't you normally have problems when you're on the boat not before you actually get there?

Well I feel embarrassed to an extent when I discover something, make a 'knee jerk' reaction and post the same here and cause a bit of a fuss. And now I am wondering things - such as the fact come mid April the days will be longer than now – hmm.

So I better explain something and how I was thinking:  go to Norwich and stream the trip on the Internet as it has been some time since I did anything like that, and never have been to Norwich on a boat – think the closest have got in years past was Brundall.

The plan being to go over Breydon Water sharing the same online, carry on all the way to Norwich – and when got there turn off the stream at the yacht station.  Turnaround at the yacht station and come back to moor on the Yare at the Whitlingham Country Park moorings  – free and from pictures I have see very pretty too.

The following day up early and back up towards Breydon crossing in the mid afternoon and mooring at Acle for the night.

Well it could still be done – with the fact the days will be longer cross Breydon around 3:00pm and then should be able to make Norwich.  With the later return trip the following day around 4:00pm and more at Acle for the evening.

Some may wonder why go all that way, turn around and come back - well I don't have anything against the southern rivers, but I always have preferred the northern ones - I guess they are in the main more picturesque and have more places one can go to in a shorter time than on the southern you also do not need to worry so much about rise and fall of tides, leaving slack in the warps and so on.

I also have to be aware it may be the case that when you come to moor you need to turn into the tide – if it was running at a fair rate, take Reedham as an example.  This may be on the offside of the boat – normally no issue, when alone it can become one to come into moor, get off and tie up before the tide may have pushed you into the next boat at the moorings. Not a good thing at the best of times, even worse if you’ve just been witnessed by a bunch watching online.

And anyway the only reason I was planning this was to live stream the journey to Norwich. Phew! So you see It is actually nice to know people enjoy something you produce – could be something you do for another down to something simple like a cake you make – in my case something captured in film.

It can cause pressure to try to please everyone all of the time – which of course is impossible and one can only please some people some of the time. Some like the live stuff, others prefer the Captain’s Blogs and then some like the pretty scenes, but others prefer the talking head to the camera more – recently been trying a mix of all.

I may well still do it, then again I might not – I might go and just film some interesting things along the way – many options I spose.  What I have learnt in writing this is I should not jump in too quickly without thinking things through.
