With the number of attacks on this website I had decided that if there were any more problems that I would simply give it up.

I have been unwell over the last few weeks and I only found out recently that once again the forum part of the site had disappeared.

Maybe I should keep to my pledge and give up on the site but I will still be left paying the hosting company for a while yet.

Therefore I have been in touch with the hosting company to try and resolve some of the security issues and I have also tried to get the site up and running again.

The SQL Database had been seriously corrupted and the recent backup failed to work.

I have managed to get the forum working using database tables from about 4 months ago but even then I had to edit the file to remove some data that should not be there.

Anyway the site is up and running again back on the original address:

www.astonboats.co.uk

I still have a number of issues with it to sort out and the chat facility is giving me problems at the moment so is not available.

Any posts over the last few months will be missing and also if you joined the site prior to the date of the database I am using then you may need to register again.

I thank those that have contributed to the site in the past.

Arthur

I was only thinking of this the other day since I got an old book off Ebay which features some photographs of Aston Boats in days gone by.

If you would like, I could scan them and post here?  But there not very good pictures 'close up' more in distance amongst others.

Anyway good for you in bringing it back again

Just a thought, I do have a bit of knowledge when it comes to low life scum defacing websites.

I would be more than happy to host the site on one of my servers, no charge of course, and I can maybe fix any holes that might be there

Hi, Arthur,

Sorry to hear you've been unwell, hope you're soon fully fit again. Thanks for your efforts with the Aston site. Despite what a certain person (who shall remain nameless, you know who you are) insisting I have a Broom, I know she's an Aston at heart!

Richard, you are one of the best, too generous for your own good! Smile

Regards, Ray.

If it's neither here, nor there, then where is it?

Well done Arther
(And well done Ray for standing up to the those Broom bullies!!)

I'm quite interested in the several Astons 650xs has on site.
I may hypothetically speaking (not saying I did your honour!) do a veeerrrryyy slow cruise-by of the Wayford site last summer with binoculars in hand ...

I only spotted one to cross off my list.  (I believe it was the Panther) and I know the Velvet Ash lived there for a while but...

Which others was you hiding?

Last year was a poor showing only 48 crossed off I think! With insider info I could be on for a bumper year.

Thanks to all for your replies.

It is the forum part of the site that has suffered from the attacks.   The rest of the site is easy to sort out.

There are a few changes I want to make to the site but I think if it is to continue then it would be a good idea to talk to Richard some time in the near future and take him up on his offer.

The forum seems to be working OK apart form the loss of some posts but as yet I am stil having a problem with the chatroom.   Mind you this is not an essential part of the site but it did prove useful on quiz nights whenever there was any problem with the NBF Chatroom.

Once again thanks to all for their support.

Arthur
