I couldn't resist giving such an intriguing title !
Reading the post about diver insurance, I see someone mentioned rope cutters, and I've attached a photo of the one I've just fitted when I changed my prop a few weeks ago. I'd be interested to hear of anyone else's experience of them, although as I was told, you never know how well they're working until they don't !
The other photo shows the thick coating of muscles when the boat was lifted out..  She'd been a year at Potter and a year at Horning since the last lift. Someone told me there'd been a great increase in the muscles at Horning this year. Does anyone know anything else about this ?  Also, I use black tar varnish for the underneath (like many hireboats I believe), and noticed they hadn't stuck to the antifoul around the front and waterline, maybe I should do the whole of the underside with antifoul ?

No, you all misjudge me..
I'm the chap who can't do the Times Crossword in 3 weeks, and even then, can't associate the answers with the questions !...
If there's ever a clever pun or hidden meaning in my posts, I'm the last person to spot it.
(Damn spellcheckers, they can't understand the context in which you've used a word...)

Well, I'm in Horning for a fortnight each year - so there's definitely no increase in muscles then ;-)

As an ecologist, I'd be interested to know which species they are - I can't tell from your photo, I don't suppose you're as sad as me and took a close-up of just the mussels?

Yes Craig,
even sadder...
I took a photo of the water intake and speed log.
This is about the closest that I took...

I think you've missed out on a big chance.
That's probably the only picture ever posted here where nobody could guess the boat.

Thanks,

They are zebra mussels - an alien from the Caspian Sea, but the National Biodiversity Network does have them recorded for much of the Broads - they are a serious pest in America, but more of an annoyance over here.
