Hi All,

Mods please place this wherever you think is best and make sticky.

Recieved today thru my Union an e-mail about the actuators on self inflating lifejackets.

UML Actuators with a replace by date of 08 2014 possibly have a fault on them and there is a safety recall out on them.

To test for this fault.

Take firm grip of the actuator and tighten firmly.

If the Black actuator does not tighten fully but instead "clicks " round then the actuator is faulty and should be replaced.

Free replacements are available by return of post.

You need to take a digital photo of the actuator showing the 08 2014 replace by date.

Then e mail

with Name, address, country, contact phone number and include the digital pic. Include also make model and serial number of Lifejacket.

A replacement will be sent by return of post.

If a Mod wishes to pm me I will forward the e-mail  which is much clearer than the above instructions.

Please check this guys. I do not know if there are any other makes of actuator available but both my work coat and my L/j for the boat has this type of actuator.
