There's an event. I actually remembered to book an overnight mooring with Beccles HM for the Saturday 25th after the mini C-in-C down to Geldestone for the DTS Griff

Just got home from my hols (Don't panic the withdrawal won't kick in til Monday and I'm going back on Tuesday ) Had a chat with Mike at Beccles and Paul at Oulton Broad they both seem to be looking forward to it. The plan at Beccles is for the MTB and those who have requested side on to go along the river frontage opposite Derby's Quay, everyone else stern on inside the YS. His lordship has requested an end spot for photography purposes but I'm guessing he will scoot ahead and take that in order to get piccies of the mooring madness. Lisa - maybe you can speak nicely to Martin and he could leave you a space between Malanka and Mistral. I'm sure the Malankans won't mind being woken at 7am! I will not be about to actually sort mooring order as I am almost (literally) tail end Charlie. Its not that I've offended Simon in any way but our engine seems to feeling the heat a little and we are limited to about 5mph. So I won't be arriving until some time after those of you at the front. I'll sort my tin rattling when I can. My second attempt at upside down reading told me that OBYS diary has 'NO MORE BOOKINGS' written in it for the Thursday night. Oh and I let Mike know that the MTB was staying for the Saturday night. Not CinC related but beware anyone in the Beccles area next weekend as it the Vintage Wooden boat meet, the Seamaster meet and the Beccles carnival - the place will be packed to the rafters! I think that's everything - Simon, have I forgotten anything?

Regarding the photo shot . I hope to take video and still pictures of, the start of the flotilla as it progresses, and a circuit around the flotilla. Once that is done I will start to move out of the Broad slowly to get a full width picture of you all. Then once that is done and the cruise starts, all boats will pass me on my port and stb side as per Simons list, - which you all would have printed off, - whilst I am filming. Note to all skippers - I am a small boat and would like to stay in one piece please ! As the last boats pass me I will take up position at the stern. On the way towards Beccles, I would like to make my way towards the front so I can arrive ahead of MTB102 and take some footage of the arrival and mooring at Beccles YS. So if you see me passing you, it is because I need to get in front and NOT racing for the best mooring spot. BTW. " Hopefully most skippers will have PMR so we can keep in touch. Paul is yours working now ? " YES! I think ! All the above may change due to any river movement with other craft.

Ncsl - Seeing as we will all be bimbling along at no more than 6mph . . . . We'll have plenty of spare capacity for the odd tsunami and Broadside! Griff

I know Perfectlady9 (Doug) posted this a while back now:- Clearance required under the bridge 29ft. (or with stick folded 6ft 2" ) But everytime I read it, it makes my giggle for some strange reason Griff

Charlie, I believe Martin must leave even earlier than us! We shall have to leave it a bit to get comfortably under the bridge to allow for the possibility of rain - we don't want to return MS wet, it would never do and we would surely (and understandably) be personae non grata for some considerable time! On the plus side, I've spoken with the folks coming on board next and they are ok with us returning to base a bit late. The plan is to just get up and go - I'll be packing and cleaning on the way back.

What bridge? There aren't any bridges between Beccles YS and brundall which you would need to drop the top for. Not sure what time the Malankans are leaving on the Saturday but I believe they are home from sunning themselves soon so might be able to tell you. You can wake each other up!

Somerleyton. We don't know how high the water is - we know at average high tide the clearance is 8'6" but last time we were down, the tides were anything but average and we are ultra-conservative, knowing so many others' holidays depend on it! Edit: and with three dogs in a row on three boats, I suspect our four-footed friends will come to wake us when the first goes out for comfort break... What Bridge? Sigh . . . Do try to keep up! Doug was replying to a question posted about clearance needed at GYA for the Northern flotilla coming south. Sheesh Griff
