VC, I'm looking forward to it!  Miss Leigh is locked and loaded and wearing her fetching goggles.

And young Jake is a marvel for those statistics!  Well done!

Mike, you modestly don't mention that the most frequent winner by miles was yourself...

Pah and Quadruple Pah!! Yet again I have been driven to comment on the disgraceful Shenanigans that occurred during last nights Quiz!

Far from being an objective assessment of members’ knowledge of the Norfolk Broads, what followed was a travesty of natural justice that resulted in the correct winner i.e me, trailing in a dismal seventh due to collusion between the QM and other participants!!

It began in Round 1, which was ostensibly dedicated to the Beatles and their wonderful music but which ended up with a series of questions linking the Fab Four to a rather run down ex fishing port located on the banks of the River Humber!

For example :- Q1 Paul McCartney penned “The Long and Winding Road” whilst travelling on the M62 to City in the County of East  Yorkshire renowned for its Cream Colured telephone boxes.

Answer:- Hull

Q2 John Lennon composed “Help” whilst riding on the upper deck of a tram trying to escape the stench of fish emanating from a Kipper Smelting House located in which former fishing port famous as the home of the Beat Combo Pop group “The Housemartins”!!

Answer Hull perhaps??

Q3 Dorothy Rigby, half cousin of Eleanor lived in this City which is located immediately East of the Humber Bridge.

Answer. Err Hull I suspect!!

And so it went on for a further 6 questions until finally Q10 asked “Which Beatles Song had an alarm clock ringing on it” which thankfully had no discernible link to this Port.

I quite correctly answered “I am the Walrus” but was immediately disqualified by the QM Because I am not a resident of Kingston Upon Hull!!  Disgraceful!!

Needless to say at the end of Round 1 “Tigerhawk” (the eventual quiz winner and resident of this wretched city) scored 10 and the rest of us Nowt! What chance did we have!!

And to compound matters even further whilst browsing a rather seedy second hand shop in Hessle Road (Yes Hull!!) today I happened upon a pristine stockpile of Lisa,s dodgy DVD,s “ Threshing the Norfolk Way Volume 4” for sale at a discount price.

On closer examination of the box I was horrified to see inscribed on the side “Sole Northern Distributor Tigerhawk Productions Kingston Upon Hull”

This is an appalling violation of my Copywrite and I have instructed my solicitor accordingly!!

And surprise surprise who came second in the Quiz?? Yip Lisa!!

Well that’s it I,m boycotting all future Quizzes until the Ombudsman intervenes and restores Order.

In fact I am going to start an alternative quiz commencing this Tuesday which will address more luminous subjects such as “A study of Whippet Breeding in the North Eastern Coalfields”,” A History of Newcastle United since 1837” and finally “The Palaeontology of Great Crested Newts with reference to their distribution in the Bure Valley” !!
All are welcome, 8 pm start!

Yours

Much Miffed of Molescoft
Beverley (Twinned with Bransholme)

P.S Lisa I purchased one of the said DVD,s for £1.50. Very Good Value indeed especially Scene 3 where your use of an electronic and extendable boat hook and a pair of Grey Lag Geese at Beccles Quay certainly complimented your Party Piece!! Very Racy!!

Lets all play "spot the alarm clock"!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nnpil_pRUiw

You might agree that this one is halfway up the Eiffel Tower in the semolina pilchard!

Whereas .....

"Got up .....  fell out of bed" rather gives it away!

And wouldn't these two find life a whole lot more interesting if they could just have a listen to "Pepper"?

And just so you don't feel disadvantaged next week  ...

Ptg,
Wonderful rant!  I'm really embarrassed that our collusion has been discovered.  Vetchugger e-mailed me all the questions on Friday morning and I made a reasonable job of only getting some of them right!
Just to keep you informed, next week's quiz will include categories such as 1) Sound effects used in the Beatles' I am The Walrus.  2) Hostelries in Molescroft, and 3) Newts and their uses in British cuisine.
I'll post the other categories during the week ( after I've checked with Vetchugger and Goodfortune what they know a lot about)
Playful Wink
