Passed by once agin today and wondered who actually owns this place now? Maybe some finance company who wound up JC I suppose.
There are warning signs all the way along telling of shallow water alongside, It was slack water as I passed and at no point were there the tell tale mudbanks that tend to show on this stretch. I got to wondering further if these signs were put there to discourage mooring for free when you can delight in paying £12 at the Yacht Station. Or is this the cynic poking his head up?
Its not just a ploy, the water is very shallow at low. We stopped there last year (I think) before the signs went up, to wait for the tide to turn in our favour and almost didn't get off again. You should have seen the sludge we churned up.
Shame to see this place so empty and run-down. Everytime we are on the Broads we would always moor up here and spend the evening in the pub. The landlord always said that he had plans to move away and it looks like he was true to his word. When we last visited (September last year) the signs were there warning about shallow water. We tried to moor here but it didn't 'feel right' so we decided to move on to Acle.
