With all the crashes, Lockouts etc we had tonight during the quiz I must admit that on more than one occassion I was tempted to ask, shall we give up? Still we managed to get to the end even with only a few left. Final winner was Gramarg on 13 points with Vetchugger runner up on 12 points. Also some excellent performances tonight from Grendel in the Coot Club round and Rondonay with the Sailey questions. Many thanks to those who persevered despite all the problems and I hope that Graham has a trouble free quiz next week. All the best Arthur

Based on what Ray (Regulo) has posted and a quick Google, it would seem that there may be some pimply faced prats with no social skills who have targetted the chatroom. I have only been in the quiz twice in ages, is this kind of problem regular? Google shows several variants of "IHT", the least likely is "International Herald Tribune". The "I" could be many different things, but "HT" is very probably "Hacking Team". Is there anything that can be done to up the security? Is the flashchat an old and easily hacked version? H

HDT, I am not what you'd call a regular Quizzer (I'd rather be afloat), but every time I've taken part, there has been some disruption. Mostly lock-outs where your input just doesn't, well, input. The only way then is to exit and re-enter. But last night seemed the first time the whole shebang went pear-shaped for everyone at once. The hacked site message I got didn't seem to adversely affect either the chat room on it's return, or my own computer, and I can't see why anyone would announce their hacking if malice were intended. As you say, pimply youths, most likely.
Regards, Ray. If it's neither here, nor there, then where is it?

Too true Grendel I know I could be way off, but a conspiracy theory is a hell of a lot more fun than just thinking the chatroom is a bit dodgy. H

Hi all, I did not experience any hacker messages last night but the chatroom locked up on me several times and ejcected me completely on a couple of occassions. it would not allow me back in, even under another name, until i had rebooted my own system completely. I did however notice that when I could not get back into the chatroom last night i could not access the forum either. maybe there is a connection there somewhere even though I understand they are not on the same server. I will send a pm to Gary about last night and i am sure he would be interested in the details of the hacking message. The usual problems occuring with the chatroom are users not being able to see all the others that are present. Last night was one of the worst evenings for problems that I have expereinced. Especially as there were so few actually taking part due to the distraction of things like the 3RR. Good to see you in the quiz Stevie (breamslayer). Please do join in again. Just sorry last night was such a fiasco. Looking forward to Grahams quiz next week. fingers crossed for a trouble free evening. All the best Arthur

Wasn't it fun? Well done to Arthur on running the quiz in difficult circumstances and to everyone else who stuck with it, i thought on a couple of occasions i would not get back in but did and won. I'll have to think of topics over the weekend.
