I am liking the idea of watching the racing on Oulton Broad on the Thursday night but we are due to have my in-laws staying for a couple of nights that week. If we head south that means they may need to stay for longer..........

Lisa-Did you explore the remote change over option?

Thats providing you aren't horizontal before you get there and the ferry pilots not under the influence.

Graham, if Yorkshire is so great then why do Yorkshiremen keep coming to Norfolk?

Jenny Morgan,
A vane, a boat, but not a bird.

The Broads is NOT a National Park.

"That's providing ... that the ferry pilot is not under the influence."

He won't be drinking the falling down water.
There is always the worry of an overdose of Polo Mints though.
And if someone brings a traction engine, there's no chance of the ferry running properly.

Either... though I think that mint is preferred.
But I suspect that we'll just have to stop off at Roys Pick And Mix to get fuel - so the ferryman will be well stocked.

Graham, haha, whatever are you suggesting????

And PL it's your young chap Jake on the ferry isn't it?  We shall have to educate his tastebuds with some proper mint - Kendal Mint Cake from the wonderful NorthWEST of England. Brown, white, chocolate covered.  (Trying to get the remaining brain cell to note we must bring some to "pay the ferryman".)

Really looking forward to it...

Tony, i will bring him some Yorkshire mixture to keep him going, and before anyone comments it is a selection of boiled sweets of various concoctions fruit flavoured and mint. And if he is really bored I'll bring him our Mamod traction engine to play with.

Gosh - Kendal Mint Cake and Yorkshire Mixture.
He'll be on a sugar high for days.
I've made a note... if we do go to Roys, it won't be to buy their Pick-n-Mix, it will be to buy toothpaste.

Yep, GF, Jake will probably be Meet FerryMaster again... unless anything very irritating gets in the way.

To be honest when I and my friends used to walk all over Kinder Falls / Eskdale and so on we used to regard chocolate covered mint cake as strictly for the girly tourists.

Brown mint cake was the beastie of choice for the macho men when I was a teenager.

A sugar hit like you wouldn't believe before the time of politically correct snacks, energy drinks and food. A time when corduroy was the fabric of choice for out door clothing  north of J3 on the M1.

Life is too short
