Griff, no problems from this end. Up North there might be, getting Yogi afloat!

1500 hrs doesn't allow much room for error though, a spot of research needed. Will work on that over the Xmas break.

Re a flypast, hugely expensive, unless something just happens to be near and handy and up there. If you are serious though 'Old Frank' on Speakers Corner has a friend with an airworthy Spit, I could ask.

Just a thought, I wonder if White Moth
http://www.norfolksailingholidays.co.uk/
is free that weekend? Be a good boat to hire for a large group of overgrown lads!

In the new year I shall open a thread dedicated to the Southern Flotilla.

Good to see that a sailing boat is taking pride of place Playful Wink

Theres a few spare Harrier jumpjets knocking about this week - wouldn't need a flypass it would just drop in.

What a waste they stopped using them.

Hi Griff
Unfortunately we are about 2 years to late.  Up until 2008 my dad's cousin was second in command of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.

However, keep a close eye on their website as they will soon publish next years's program and if in the area they will quite often do a quick detour.

We had a fly past (with wing waggling) at my school a couple of years ago as they were at the Clacton airshow anyway and knew that I had a staff training day in school.  (It earnt me major brownie points with the boss who is a bit of a plane nut!)

Re Timings, it will most prbably covered in the New year, Is there any chance of the few members who are hiring can get their boats early i am thinking of us and at least two other crews leaving Stalham, if this going to be a
big media event and looking at the comments so far i do not doubt it is there anything can be done letters, press release etc, just to give them a nudge.

Brilliant work
Will we be giving a donation to the Wherry Trust - I assume a big bucket needs to be handed across the boats?

Albion - I would hope that those forumites that go onboard here for a look-see will chuck something in her bucket.  Even better sign up for the yearly membership.

Fly past - Those that know about websites of desirable aircraft - would you keep en eye on them and nearer the time I'll fire off a request for a divert if there is anything in the area

JM - Your friend with the Spit - that would be just wonderful if he is up and about on the day

With regards to Hire craft being released early enough to make the venue, nearer the time I could fire off a request if asked, once we have firmed up the publicity side of things.  There are now around twenty nine craft signed up.

Timings for the actual cruise - is down to the southern contingent as to what time the expect to arrive at Acle Bridge then onto Salhouse via a circuit of Malthouse Broad where they will collect the final contingent (Bure flotilla) so the earlier they can clear the Bridges at GYA the better.

Re Yarmouth Bridge, or more to the point, the Yacht Station, getting there early is easy enough, three to three and half hours from Oulton, that's not the problem. The desirability of plugging the tide up the Bure might be a problem for smaller craft. Three hours from the Yacht Station to the Albion would mean passing through the Yacht Station at 1200hrs, at the latest, and I think the tide will still be sluicing out at that time. Anyone yet know the tide at the YS at that time, for sure? Previous suggestions indicate a comfortable passage through YH at about 1300 with arrival about 1600 being most likely.

Having just had a look-see at the tide tables it falls very kindly.

Fri 24th June - Low water is at 1020, Slack water is at 1120

That allows you to pass through at 1100 with not much tide to worry about at all
