hi members ,it was october 2001 we had hired a boat from richardsons of stalham.we made a hasty retreat from stalham to hopefully moor at horning . we arrived at horning light was fading fast no moorings where to be found .to make matters worse the heavens opened, salhouse broad came to mind. we almost gave up when a guy on the bank at the new inn  shouts get in ere there is room ,ok mate cheers we moored up stern on the guy was a great help. as i tied up he said you eating here i said yes spose.got in the boat had showers dressed for our night in the new inn and i commented to my partner what a friendly guy helping us to moor up .got off the boat to walk to the pub big sign stating that to moor here you must be eating in the pub and the friendly guy was employed by the pub to get punters in . no matter we were glad to have found that mooring space and the food was delicious , we both had norfolk turkey!!

They still have a guy who organises and helps with the moorings, and given some of the calamities I've witnessed, a good thing to. The food is fine, in particular I would recommend the Steak & Ale Pie to anybody, except those lower in the food chain ( vegetarians Evil Grin   ). An all round good family pub to enjoy on a summers day in the garden, especially with one of their pitchers of Pimms, Sangria or various Lagers

................oh I long to be back.

Michael.

That same Guy also shoo's you off, rather unceremoniously, if you are not eating.

We saw him do this to two boats who moored up together with about a dozen middle-aged blokes between them, who told him they were dying for a pint. I remember thinking he would probably make more money selling them numerous pints and crisps than a few meals.

the good side of the new in is you can book a mooring in advance ,its a pity a lot of the other pubs cannot do the same then you could stay out on the river a lot later without worrying about a mooring space .I found the chap to be a great help when having to try stern on mooring as my first attempt 2hrs after having very limited tuition from herbert woods . by the way the food was also fine and a reasonable price also no wait.
we will be making it a 1st stop on our next visit 2006
