Hello Swordfish and welcome!

If you're starting from Brundall then just relax, there is plenty of room on the river there, so you can get the feel of the boat without pressure. As Steve says, there's lots of good info already on this site so take some time to read up.

The main things to remember are that boats have no brakes, 6 mph is fast with no brakes, moorings are mostly solid, people are not and boats don't steer go backwards. Oh, and it may be a good idea to have some practice moorings against a bank away from the busy areas, so that you get confidence and you and your crew understand each others communications. 'I meant the other left' is not just a joke if you have to fish someone out of the river after!

But most of all slow down and enjoy, as it's not a race to get from one mooring to another. You can buy maps with all the info that you need on them to find your way on the river. We'll be on the river this weekend so will give you a wave if we see you.

Harry

Just try and keep it on the wet bit dear . . . .

Hi Swordfish

Glad to hear you like the site.

You will have a great holiday. Just relax and enjoy the Broads. You won't be able to see it all, so just take it slow. The boat will not be a problem to handle and you will see lots of interesting places and wildlife.

OOps attached to the wrong thread. Anyway welcome aboard Swordfish as long as you can laugh at yourself I reckon the real ship's captain will have a whale of a time.
