That the Broads hire industry is on the decline..

I have sent for every hire brochure I could find online as we want to book before Christmas for next year, This was well over a week ago and Herbert Woods were the only company so far to reply. I'm not impressed.

Do these companys expect to stay afloat' with this sort of service.

Sorry, rant over!  Smile

trambo, do you mean it has been sent to me today! if so how do you know, do you work for them?? Smile

I just don't understand how these guys can survive.:-?

When I wanted to order the new graphics for our own boat, I sent for 3 brochures, took note of the time they took to arrive and the quality and went with the company who sent out the details first as my thinking was if they are on the ball for a brochure, they will be good for the order. This is going to happen with next years holiday as well by the look of things, a £1k order should go to those who are willing to help me have a good holiday. Smile

I also got my new Blakes brochure today!!

Does look like their moving more towards canal and foreign boating holidays, and I notice the new or more accurate (or undoctored) pictures that have changed are for these waterways.  These poor pictures are my main criticism of the companies broadland operations.

I think booking with the companies that give you the best service is how most  people choose as well, but why are the Broadland companies so far behind the times compared to all the other inland waterway companies?   One of the best firms (Silverline) don't even have a website.  Some of the other high quality fleets that people are always singing the praises of on here don't even bother replying to your emails.
And onr of the largest operators (New Horizon) has one of the poorest and mostly badly updated or maintained sites of any organisation of their size I have ever known.

The situation is really poor, the companies should take note, if not they should be expecting to have to downsize or close, its hardly advanced business logic is it?!!

Right, I will de-stress now!!!

Just an update.... a month has gone by and I recieved Herbert woods, Hoseasons and er..er.. OH! thats it!

I can't bring myself to look at any of the companys, who have had my time in filling out their brochure request forms online and not replied.

I say it again, but this is why they are in decline.
