9am in Brundall. Looks like there was an inch or so overnight and it's coming down lightly at the moment. Around 1 degree outside, but Webasto is working well so cosy and warm in here.

Oh look - More rotten wood!

It was never the cold that was the problem for us.

Decks like skating rinks, icy quay headings and stif ropes were our problems.

Take care.

Just goes to show that the weather has heard about the one way system in Lowestoft, It has not been here. We had a whole half an inch overnight and nothing has settled today.
First time we have had to thanks our traffic planners for anything.

As some of you know, I am not in Norfolk at present but I feel overqualified for this subject at present LOL

We left on Friday for Canterbury, being booked on the 1025 ferry Dover to Calais on the Saturday morning and seeing the forecast we thought this could be a good move.

2 and a half hours from Norwich to Canterbury and all in the world seemed fine. Out of bed at 0600 yesterday morning as we had heard Operation Stack was in force on the M20 (we were using the A2), in the car and down to Dover.

Those that know that area will know that there is a road that goes over the docks and bends back round to the entrance. This was closed. So we had to turn right. It was 0715 when we turned right at this roundabout, satnav told us we had 1.8 miles to the docks. SEVEN HOURS 25 minutes it took us to get down to the docks. HGV's were the main problem as they couldnt get down the steep slopes.

Into the docks at 1440 and checked in, ferry goes in 35 mins and loading has started.

Into Calais and that was worse than Dover but once clear of Calais the main roads were clear. Was expecting to lose the snow after about 100 miles, nope it was still there 300 miles later when we stopped for the night LOL

Was going to play a game with the kids this morning, first one to see the snow as we got into the mountains. Pointless game as there was never an inch of road without the white stuff near it.

Finally arrived here at 1400 this afternoon. Have a good Christmas everyone, I'll be back sometime soon. Possibly.

Thanks for the updates on Friday, you know who you are.

Gary.

At the moment it is freezing hard, has been all day. Had to contend with not less than an inch of ice on my slipway this morning, and best part of a quarter of an inch in the dyke when I got back from fishing, ice that had formed during the day. If the wind drops then I suspect it won't be long before the broad itself is laid. Got me 'patterns' ready!
