This email was sent round my company by our HR Department today, and I thought it would be as well to warn as many people as possible:

Subject: PARCEL DELIVERY SCAM

PLEASE NOTE THIS IS FROM WEST KENT POLICE

Bill Long
Area Neighbourhoodwatch Co-ordinator

Information received from PC 8382 MacCORMACK - Medway Intel

Can you circulate this around especially as  Christmas is fast approaching - it
has been confirmed by Royal Mail. The Trading Standards Office are making people
aware of the following scam:

A card is posted through your door from a company called PDS
(Parcel Delivery Service) suggesting that they were unable to deliver a parcel
and that you need to contact them on 0906 6611911 (a premium rate number).
DO NOT call this number, as this is a mail scam originating from Belize.

If you call the number and you start to hear a recorded message you will
already have been billed £15 for the phone call.

Especially in the run up to Christmas when more of us may be expecting parcels.

Only yesterday I had a similar message sent to my mobile phone, as a text message !!!

It said "URGENT, we are trying to deliver a parcel from abroad to your house TOMORROW. Please ring 09-------- NOW to arrange delivery"

As I wasn't expecting any parcel from abroad I deleted it immediately.  Mad

So beware, they are still trying it on !!!!

The version I got looked like it came from DFS and suggested that they were unable to deliver a parcel and that I would be charged $6 a day if I didi not do somthing. It had the usual very convincing LOGO and an embedded link and 0900 phone number. That was last week.
Needless to say  I forwarded it to spoof@DFS.com and deleted it from my machine

Good luck

Any e-mail which contains the suggestion that you should forward it to as many people as possible is absolutely certain to be a hoax. As with all chain letters it should be deleted and not forwarded to anyone.
Really, your HR Dept should know better.

They Are NOT always hoaxes...

Personally, I'm grateful to Gill for bringing this potential problem to our attention.

if in doubt always google the email subject or key words and you'll generally find out if it was a hoax or not.
