Hi - just a note to say hello to existing members. I am a boat owner although it is a number of years since she was last on the Broads. A replica Dutch sailing barge Pisces of Womackwas originally built at Wroxham and fitted out in Ludham but she was poorly maintained for a few years and I currently have her restoration in hand at Oulton Broad. To keep me afloat I have a Mirror dinghy and just acquired a kayak too! So if you see an old geezer puffing fitfully as he struggles to paddle the few hundred yards home it'll probably be me!! Wink

Welcome to the forum, Peter.  All the best with the restoration and as soon as it's done, be sure to post a photo!

Do you have any old pics of her afloat, as I'd love to see some?  I cross the border into holland every day going to work and there's a chap that has an old sailing barge on the river Maas.  It's a beautiful craft.

Regards,
Craig(2)

Thanks for your comments Craig. Pisces is the vessel shown in my avatar, but here she is again so that you can "blow up" the picture....

It sounds as if you're around the region I used to visit regularly in the "barge of the skies", the C130 Hercules, when I flew in the RAF.

Did she used to live at Little Holland off Womack Dyke?  Seem to recall the chap there had a collection of Dutch sailing vessels.

Thanks to you all for your kind remarks and greetings.  Pisces did "live" at Womack Dyke I believe; her original owner was Terry Ward who lived there, backing on to the water, and did much of the fit-out after Landemore's completed and delivered the hull from Wroxham.

I found the boat at Buckler's Hard on the Beaulieu River and bought her, intending to live aboard for four or five years from 1999, cruising the UK and near-Continental coastlines and waterways.

The "professional" survey which we commissioned turned out to be worth less than your average slice of stale bread and after much legal fighting we set to with a restoration of the serious state the vessel had deteriorated into below the surface. Of course, the deeper we went the more there was to do, but the back of it is broken now and the boat COULD be ready to sail once again next year - if only I can get the house renovations finished before winter comes around AGAIN!!  Confused
