Although not a Norfolk Broads subject, I'm posting this as these barges were a regular feature of the Southern Broads.

"The Thames barge built more than a century ago needed emergency repairs after a collision during the 36th annual Swale Smack and Sailing Barge Match".

Thanks Roy & Paul, I do pop in from time to time but find most of my spare time is taken up with other things Frown

I posted today as I thought it would be of interest. Thames barges often did the trip from here to the Broads via Lowestoft, plus, as my Great Great Grandfather owned a fleet of them, I've always had a great fondness for the graceful old ladies.

Alice is very well, thanks Roy (as is Jen of course), I'll tell her you were asking after her.

Hi Tim,
there must have been a hell of a bang when those two came together!
Talking of barges that made regular trips up to Norwich, the last one to do so, the Cambria, is currently being restored.
cheers
Mat
