It appears that boats are being moored stern on. What has been done has been done without planning consent. Waveney District Council are quite definitely out of order.

Jenny Morgan,

Say 'yes dear' and be accused of being indecisive, be decisive and be accused of not saying 'yes dear'! Us men can never win.

Broads01 Are you sure you are thinking of the same place?? There WAS a large mooring area there as you can see.

The pontoon is now being used for stern on mooring but I can recall when boats moored there along side to get water and visit the town.   There is general disapproval of the move to make this into permanent moorings with the exception of 3/4 spaces (stern on spaces).   This pontoon came into its own regularly as a stop off if the height under the bridge was not enough to get through at Beccles old bridge.   These 3/4 spaces will only be there if the folks permanently moored there correctly.

Thanks for piccy - have been reading in the Beccles local paper that Waveney District Council did not realise that they had to seek permission of the Broads Authority before renting out the moorings.   So I wonder what the outcome will be.

Jimbo, that sat. picture reminds me of my first Broads hoilday many years ago.
Under the Zoom + looks like the long wooden building I had my first boat from "Four Square Boats".

Regards
David

Jimbo, yes I was thinking of the same place. When we were there last year there was no stern-on mooring going on & no signs telling you to do so, hence my confusion at how much space there was there. From memory there's enough width of river there for stern-on so I think stern-on is reasonable.
