Hi, Reading Boatboy's nuptial intentions on another thread got me wondering how many people on the forum actually had their honeymoon boating on the Broads. To make things a little more difficult, you must remember the boat, still be together (you, not the boat) and still be actively Broads boating! We will start you of with a marker. Ourselves. 1967 (40+) "Valentina". Last visit 2007 (Royalls) and will be back this October. John and Anne So you want me to moor stern on here?...in this wind?...and tide?...no probs????

We didn't but my brother-in-law, Roy, did. Back then I was a small part owner of Fowlers of Oulton Broad so, out of season, could use any boat that was not on hire. Roy's mum thought it would be great fun if we all went off for the week. Whilst most of the Fowler's boats were made to fit Po'er Ham Bridge a couple that we had bought from another yard did not. Roy's doting mother didn't realise this minor problem until her son and his new bride disappeared under the bridge, leaving us to turn round and head for Coltishall! Not sure that my mother-in-law ever quite forgave me for that very minor deception!! Roy spent the whole week on Hickling!
Jenny Morgan, May I apologise in advance for any offense that I might cause.

Christina and I spent our honeymoon on the Broads. It was 1975. The boat was Royal Consort. It was April and very cold but this did not seem to matter much. We are still together and we still have a boat (Woodwose). A photograph is attached. Everything seemed to be orange back in the 70s. Nigel Ludham
