Hi Everyone,
Just to let you know we have acquired a new boat - a 27ft 2-4 berth cruiser built in 1969 by Bondons at South Walsham. A (not very good) pic attached.

We're carrying out some TLC now, she'll be ready for January.

Still looking for other boats - 5-6 berth cruisers and sailies in particular. (Several people on the 'waiting list'!)

Best regards,

Gordon

Hello Gordon

Pleased to see your new venture growing slightly.

Is there anymore news on the Ideal 40 you were planning to have?   I would be interested to know her reg number/what she was previously.

All the best

Dan

Hi Dan,

Things seem to have stalled with the renovation on 'Kingfisher'.

She's in Cumbria at present and we're not involved with the renovation, but I'm trying to get an update - so I'll keep you posted.

Don't know the reg. but she was on the Caledonian canal, then came to the lakes a few years ago.

Best regards,

Gordon

Dan - going by the name I'd guess she was once an Abbey Kingfisher, operated by Abbey Cruisers at Fort Augustus until they went out of business around 1995.

They had several Ideal 40's, five or so I think, a couple went to West Highland Sailing and are still available for hire from them, the others disappeared.

I'm guessing a bit but sounds reasonable.

Regards

Paul

Ahh yes, that all makes sense now.

I have affection for them as our first cruiser holiday was on Lomond Heather, of same design/builder to the one mentioned (for EuroCruisers with a Cheesman Rollo fitout) but on Loch Lomond.

I doubt I'll be having enough holidays in '08 to make the KeyHolder scheme a viable prpopsition at the moment, but will keep an eye on the boats involved & the costs, and if my holidays get back to my more usual level I may consider it Smile

All the best

Dan
