Noticed on way up to Stalham on Thursday 3 policemen with hand held cameras clocking motorists on a 40mph stretch and another 2 today coming back. They said there would be a clamp down on speeding motorists as it looks as if it has begun.

Highly appropriate. May there be more of it in 30 & 40 mph zones - with very much less use of te "tallivans" on parts of the A11 & A47 where there is no evidence of significant risk.

Good for them... Hey, all we have to do to avoid a fine and points... is to keep to the speed limits...

The more speed cameras in 30/40 mph limits the better. I travel between 20 and 25000 miles a year, the majority in Norfolk and not always on the A roads. The amount of drivers that abuse these limits is not good. As Poppy says, Highly appropriate. What is the need for cameras on the A47/A11 except to raise revenue?

When we came through Great Yarmouth today a Silver Vauxhall Astra crossed the traffic lights at red at about 50 mph nearly causing a terrible accident. How he missed everyone was a miracle. Pity a police car had not been near to hand at that moment. But for another 2 feet there would have been carnage. He just carried out chatting to his 'bird' trying to impress and completely oblivious as to the trouble he nearly caused.

Good, Stick to limits no probs. I would have cameras on every Traffic light and fine folk a £1000 who go through on red.Second time i would send them to Prison. Harsh you may think but wait till some one crashes into you and wrecks your familys life. What i wonder is where is every body rushing to???

I agree with you entirely Roya. I hope the Police presence is fruitful. Today a normal decent family escaped a very very nasty fate. Thank goodness.

I have collected 6 points both times for doing 38 in a 30 limit. On neither occasion was I in an area much frequented by pedestrians. On one occasion I was under pressure from the prat behind me pushing almost on my bumper, on the other I was worrying about a meeting I had just attended. I drive daily in my job and 99% of it is in town-and our town is FESTOONED with speed cameras! I note and keep to speed limits as carefully as is possible. I REALLY try. AArgh!! Actually, I prefer the 'Average Speed' cameras 'cos then a momentary increase can be adjusted.

Hey all, check out this site http://www.betterdrivingplease.com/ You can report the registration number of any poor drivers i.e speeding, talking on mobile phones, tailgating etc. New Zealand has a similar system and it works quite well. If enough people use the site then the potential is there for the police to write to the registered owner of the veichle and warn them about their actions.
