There's no need to get uppity, Nigel...I expected better from you...the term "tree-hugger" is a mildly sarcastic term for those misguided extremists who would denounce all things technological and have us all back in the dark ages in a feudal system digging for dirt like peasants...absolutely not people like you and I who want to maintain a good, healthy balance between the natural world and our pursuit of leisure. Therefore, no insult intended to you so your last paragraphs' snide inferences were unnecessary and I would suggest not in themselves in the spirit of this forum.

I, and many others, fully support the preservation of wetlands and wildlife sanctuaries like Horsey Mere and the whole Broadland area in general but this needs to be done in a way which is workable, sensible and acceptable to all users. As a river user I do my best to minimise the impact my chosen activity has and I would expect all others to do the same...anarchy on either side of the preservation fence is counter-productive. It could end up getting as bad as the animal rights activists' actions...remember when they released all those minks in Norfolk?

I seems that there is a distinct possibility that the local NIMBY (Not In My Back Yard) fraternity would have ALL, or virtually all tourism, stopped on the system just to preserve their local AONB for themselves...very selfish and short-sighted really...no tourism industry, no revenue...end of story!

The real ironic thing is...the ones who complain most about the "destruction" of the Broads environment are usually those who are not even native to the area but refugees from other, less-beautiful parts of the country...

Don't want to fall out with you or anybody else about this (or anything else for that matter) but I will NOT stand by and be insulted by being accused, either directly or indirectly, of not caring about the Broads!
I've been a visitor and a devotee to the area for 25 years and gave NEVER knowingly endangered anything or anybody!  Mad  Mad

Oh dear, I think someone needs to go and plant a few bulbs and unwind a tad. I've followed this and other related threads carefully and see no sign of "snide inferences" or "accusations".
I thought Nigel's reply was considered and balanced, unlike other contributions which could be seen as inflamatory!

How do you know if Nigel is offended...are you psychic?

It was a discussion which Nigel and I entered into and voiced our respective opinions. NB OPINIONS...Not handbags at 30 paces...that seems outwardly to be your style.

If Nigel is offended, he will, no doubt, let me know and I will apologise to him unreservedly because I respect him and his beliefs. It is not up to you to decide what others are or aren't thinking. As for threatening to take your ball away and leave the site...dear or dear...only one reply to that sort of churlishness...

Don't let the door hit you in the backside on the way out... Playful

COOOWEEEEEE,

Could one just suggest that maybe things are being said here which are not really meant It would be nice if a bit little bit of editing went on before Richard wakes up. We all know where to go for a knock about. Playful

Each I suggest sorts out his own
