Local bylaws for the county of Norfolk prohibit ovenight parking or camping on any highway. Broads Authority normally prohibit overnight camping on Staithes in their local rules.

Car Parks, including Pub Car Parks have their own rules, normally a notice will be displayed about charges etc.

There used to be a camp site at Bush House Farm, on church road in Sutton which is only two or three minutes from the river, as far as I know it is still there but you would not be parked right alongside the boat.

Of course if no one finds you then noone will object but such remote places are not usually close to a pub.
Stalham Staithe and the lane that runs alongside it are normally very quiet but not close to a pub. Other wise Gayes Staithe (south west corner of Barton Broad) or Neatishead staithe (past Gayes Staithe along the dyke, at the end of navigation) - the last is a five minute walk to the pub. Both would require you to try and "hide" the camper though.

Hope this gives you some ideas.

Paul

Hi Tuppence

There is a campsite next door to the Dog Inn at Ludham Bridge on the Ant, which would be about 1 1/2hrs from Stalham. I think there is also one in Potter Heigham not far by road but a nice trip by boat. We have our boat moored at Ranworth and can't think of any Campsites near there but will have a look and report back shortly. However would the van be used to sleep in or do you need just to park it overnight?? because at Ranworth you could park and then sleep on the boat and not break the no overnight camping rules. Smile

Kind regards, John.

Thanks John!

I'm afraid my friend doesn't have sea legs or river legs so she wanted to sleep in the van.

I think I'll have to try and talk her into getting some sickness pills as this is all a bit difficult to organise!

Thinking Cap is still on!!! Confused Smile

I don't think the camp site at Ludham Bridge is open to casual visitors. You need to be a member I think.

There is a public camp site at Repps Staithe (Pug Street)on the Thurne. This might be a good place to moor.

I thought I got sea sick easy, but anyone getting sea sick on Ranworth/Malthouse Broad in a moored boat has my true simpathy. Have asked around here at work (in Norwich) and no one knows of a site local to a broad/river, sorry. If you do end up on Ranworth/Malthouse Broad or in the Maltsers Pub Keep an Eye out for me, like to say Hi, We will be down on Joshua sometime over the weekend. In fact just been for a walk in Norwich City center and wish I were onboard now, the weather is great!! Smile

Kind regards, John.

Hi John

I did miss your last post but thanks anyway!

We managed to talk Tracy round to staying on the boat but unfortunately she was sick twice!!  Nevertheless we had a nice weekend.

The need has increased very much now for a bigger boat as conditions were very cramped indeed!!!

It was really nice to see you too even though it was only a quick wave!  Glad I recognised Joshua!!!

Hopefully next time we'll be moored and can have a drink and a chat!

See you soon!

Christina
