You didnt say what kind of dog you've got.  We've taken most of our dogs on the boats over the years (mainly Rough Collies and a Golden Retriever), they have all hated walking on the decks and found them slippery, some even freaked at the sound of the engine but most of them enjoyed the experience and loved getting off to explore new places.  It's been quite a number of years since we took our dog ... mainly due to having a brood of kids who are harder to keep on a tight lead .... so I am not up-to-date with the dog friendly pubs, but if the weather is like it has been, it's great to sit outside with your dog and watch the world go by.

Hope you and your furry friend have lots of fun!
