Hi folks,
Could someone who has done this before let me know if there is somewhere to tie up to lower my mast before going through Yarmouth from the south - and to raise it again when returning from the north. Or do I have to get it down at the Berney Arms and motor across Baydon Water? Also could you let me know of any other 'do's and don'ts' - apart from the obvious one of going through at slack low water!
Thanks
Andy

Dolphins (big) at eastern end of Breydon just before the big bridge and plenty of places just before the bridges when coming south Smile

A picture pops up on my PC from time to time which shows the masting posts at the Yarmouth end of Breydon well (it's part of the slideshow that the Admiral made from the christmas pictures.)

But I can't find the actual picture/link now.

The posts are metal, painted green, and have two vertical bars on them to tie to.

The last marker posts before the bridge on both sides of the channel and on both sides of the bridge have "jug handle" mooring hoops, so you can always choose a windward one. Alternatively you could ask for a bridge lift and carry on to the dolphins or wharf.

I've put a detailed description of going through Yarmouth under sail on   my website. Feel free to have a look and see if it's useful.

Yep - that's it Jaguar. Many thanks.

I have a feeling that one of my very first posts here asked exactly the same question... a lot of water has passed under the bridge since then.

(all together: groan.)

Thanks chaps!

I will hold that info until next week - the weather is too dreadful to contemplate a relaxing cruse north this weekend - besides the tides are wrong.

Thanks Robin for the link and the videos - what a good idea!
