The only link to the Broads is the fact that I can float an average Broads hire boat under this bridge and not have to worry about airdraft!!  Those of you that live in this area - (ish!!) (Pete Sanders) and Tudor Rose? will know of this infamous railbridge at Church Lawford (over the A428)!!  A couple of years ago the drainage system was revamped to cope with water coming down off the nearby fields etc as it always used to flood quite dramatically and it worked for a while.  Hmmm - believe it or not, there are TWO cars under that water!!  You can't see the first one which is to the right of the left hand arch, the second car's roof can just be seen - I've highlighted it in the second photo below!!  The water is still rising as well and there's another couple of days rain forecasted!!   Gasp

Hi Chris & Brenda,

You are right in location Church Lawford is just up the road. Can't say I've ever paid much attention to the bridge but will have a look next time we are over there.

Driven through there many times but long ago, when I was at college. Never saw it like that though!

I know the bridge very well indeed, Chris, as you rightly suggest.  In fact, I usually pass under it several times a week, Wolston being my preferred route out of Rugby, to the A45 for destinations to the South-West.  I'm more familiar with it's 12'3" height limit than its "wading depth" limit!!  I'm intrigued as to when the photo's were taken? 2 tears ago, or this weekend?  I've been away boating this weekend, so have no idea if it's been that bad in Rugby.  Another spectacular spot at times of flooding, is the ford between Churchover and Harborough Magna, and of course the one at Long Lawford.

Is yours the place on the triangle then with the horse-box in residence?  If so, I'll give you a "toot" next time I'm passing.

Hi Pete,

The photo's were taken last Friday (20th July 07).  The ford at Long Lawford was just as bad on the Saturday!

Nah - I watched that house take shape once the petrol station (Triangle Garage) had been removed from that very same spot and the bulk tanks had been filled in!!!  If you turn left just past that house (travelling towards Cov), we're up that road in the country!!

Hi Chris,

That's frightening that the photo's are so recent.  Just in case, on my return from Coventry today, I decided to take the route through Brinklow and Easenhall, just in case they were recent photos.  I trust that neither of the vehicles under there was your car?!  Of course the other question that springs to mind is whether the occupants of the vehicles got out OK.  I expect we shall see all about it in the Observer or the Advertiser shortly.

You live in the road before the one that goes to the little Church Lawford Industrial Estate then.  At least it's quiet on that road.  I'd forgotten that the property I mentioned used to be a garage - how soon we forget how things used to be!
