i was doing 55 60 mph.
i think untill told otherwise 60 mph is the legal limit. Tinhat
Any one doing 75 mph 80 mph  on that dual carrige way which is the norm i would just take their cars away and crush them.
Just fed up seeing the aftermath  and ruined lives ,caused by speeding.
rant over stay safe.

Roy,

I thought the speed limit was 70 mph, + 10% for speedo error.
So 75~80 is about right isnt it.

The smily isnt working, there are supposed to be at least a couple.

On A more serious note
Motorways 70 mph
All other roads  60mph.
So if you are caught doing 80 on a dual carrige way it may lead to a driving ban.
Then watch the car insurance go through the roof,or sun roof.
Stay safe this site needs YOU  Smile

oops did not see the one about the guns, that is very serious.

Roya,
the national speedlimit on a single carriage way road is 60mph, and a dual carriage way 70mph, this link should help

Re bans, not that I in anyway advocate speeding, but the norm is for 0-25mph over the speedlimit for the road 3 points and a fine, 25-30 over the speedlimit for the road 6 points and a fine, anything over 30mph over the speedlimit for the road = instant ban. Of course in all the above cases that's assuming you don't get done under another law, i.e 10 miles over in a 30mph zone outside a school overtaking could be judged to be dangerous or reckless driving as opposed to a speeding offence.

Blimey Keith.
have i got this right,
You say i think,if im doing 85 on a single road its 3 points and a fine
but if i go another 6 mph and make it over 90 i get a ban.
Im even more confused now i think i will just stick to 60.

Roy,

That's about the size of it. If the national speed limit for the road concerned is 60mph, then anything upto 85mph is likely to be a fixed fee penalty notice, 3 points and a fine, 85-90mph would come under an SP30 Exceeding statutory speed limit on a public road 3 - 6 points, normally 6 points and a larger fine. Anything over 90, outright ban, unless your lawyer is very good.

But your right, it's far easier and cheaper to stick to 60.

Unless you happen to be in a 30 or 40mph Zone of course!

a couple of weeks ago, my daughter visited Hull university, where in that area the tollerence levels are very low regarding speeding, she got caught doing 35mph in a 30mph zone, although fifty yards prior to the camra was a 40mph sign, and she ended up with the same £60 fine and 3 points as a driver doing 70 in a 40 limit, hardly seems fair.
