Spotted tonight on the FB page of 'Life On And Around The Beautiful Norfolk Broads':.... "Sad news for those that have petrol powered boats on the yare , brooms have now discontinued the sale if petrol and it's highly unlikely it will ever return as the tank is getting filled in ?? , the reason stated is unable to make profit , that said they most likely are on diesel sales as that's now a hefty £1.28 a litre ??" That said, it's still listed as available on their Marina services, so not able to confirm one way or t'other at the moment. Steve.

With respect, I would suggest that the price of fuel as posted by the original observer on the FB page is correct. He was actually looking at the sign displaying the said prices. Thus the FB page is entirely accurate and there is no need to doubt or question such post. I would refer the member to the Gospel according to St John Chapter 20 verses 24-29.

Is anyone doubting the price of diesel? I must have misunderstood, as I thought the thread was about not selling petrol anymore?

My perception is that both the price of fuel, and the discontinuation of the sale of petrol is being somewhat doubted. I was simply clarifying the matter by confirming the content of the original post as being accurate. This being based on the indisputable evidence of the original poster on the FB page, who visited the actual site and, as a reliable witness to the fact, it is beyond any reasonable doubt that the said retailer is no longer selling petrol and selling diesel at the price stated. The confusion (if any) has arisen due to the reliability of the original post being brought into question as a result of reading the retailer's website, which is out of date. It is reasonable to assume that given the empirical evidence available (ie observation by a reliable witness), the facts can be firmly established that there is no longer petrol at the said retailer and that the said retailer is selling diesel at the price stated. Even the most skeptical logical positivist would find difficulty in doubting the truth in this case. The original poster in this thread took the information from a FB group of which he/she is a member, and then cast doubt over the accuracy of this information. I was simply supporting the accuracy of content of the FB page and the integrity of the poster of the information on the said page. I would suggest that it would be polite to either accept the information as reliable, or if one is in doubt about the accuracy, not post at all until all the facts are verified to one's satisfaction. Little wonder I tend to avoid the various Broads forums.

To be fair, I didn't see anyone doubting the accuracy of the information? If the tank is being filled in then they ain't selling petrol ( hardly a surprise given the storage regulations) and the price of diesel is a little expensive, but if they are not turning over much stock at this time of the year, then they will have probably bought that load before the collapse in oil prices. Perhaps what is more surprising is the Shell garage at Brundall is still selling diesel at 137.9p a litre when supermarkets are probably 12-14p cheaper - they have not put their price down either and still people queue at their pumps!! Some wealthy people around here!!

On the subject of petrol back in the summer my car petrol routine failed me and though I avoid posh high price fuel I did have to open the wallet a bit at Brundall due of lack of time for £30 of 4* but I was surprised how much better my engine ran after a few miles and indeed has for the months since whilst back on cheap & cheerful again. So lesson learned a 3 times a year treat needed maybe?
