Looking at the ‘Wyndham Vacation Rentals’ 2017 combined Hoseasons and Blakes boating holidays brochure, it’s interesting to see that there are, for the Broads, only 10 boat fleets and 5 houseboat bases listed namely: Silverline Marine Brooms Boats Sanderson Marine Craft Faircraft Loynes Royalls Boatyard Barnes Brinkcraft Summercraft Bridgecraft Richardson’s Cruisers Richardson’s Cruisers (Horning) Along with Buccaneer Houseboats Hippersons Houseboats Bridge Broad Houseboats Wayford Park Houseboats Moonfleet Marine Houseboats A strange collection both in terms of who is there and who is not Bill...(The Ancient Mardler)

Another two - both quite small, and both hiring yachts, but technically 'hire yards' nonetheless: Olivers Boats in Belaugh Colin Buttifant at Womack

Bill - its really funny this but we were just talking about this , earlier this morning!! Doubt others agree with me, but I think the agencies killed the golden goose some time ago and it seems that once you get to a certain size, yards can now manage alone - plus of course the internet!! They can then offer a better service, and without having to pay what would be profit, to a third party!! I believe at his last meeting with them, Len Funnell politely told them where to stick it and walked out!! Now whether a smaller yard can do that I am not sure but does size matter with the internet? I suspect its much the same with holiday cottages - some stay with a "cover" group to get exposure , others hope the internet will serve that purpose. I am sure there are pros and cons both ways but to an outsider its beginning to seem as broad as its long although contrary to popular belief, probably size does matter somewhat!!

What matters most is good customers service , repeat bookings and word of mouth recommendations and that why the smaller yards do quite well , like take Pacific's reputation for example , iv never personally hired with them but I know of those that have and nothing is too much trouble , sometimes if u get bigger the customers service tails off you become a number not a customer .
