Next year ,2018 , we are planning to have our Bounty 28 painted externally . The boat has been previously painted so will need spraying . Has anybody have any views of the JUTON paint system at Brinks Wroxham or can you recommend any other yard on the North Rivers who will do a good job.

I think the Juton paints are 2 pack. If the original paint is single solution, I don't think you can use 2 pack over the top.

Good evening.

I am assuming you mean Jotun marine paints ( ? ). My only experience of this Norwegian manufacturer was in the commercial maritime sector where the company's products came highly recommended for steel coverage. I see no reason to doubt further application in the leisure industry, but I have no experience of its suitability for fibre-glass as it was primarily two-pack epoxy. No doubt someone else will have and be able to let you know.

You have several yards to choose from on the Northern rivers - Wayford Marine, Moonfleet, Sutton Staithe, LBBY, Boulters and Horning Marina Services etc., etc. to name but a few. Best bet is to phone around for quotes and ask them to provide details of recent work undertaken by way of reference, then contact the owner/s and ask their opinion.

Hope that helps.

Steve.

Not quite an ancient mariner ..... though some say he was at sea before Pontius was a pilate !

Hi Barry I use Jotun paint it is very good, there two pack XP dosn't need a undercoat it's so good, they make single pack as well as two pack. there pilot 11 is especilly good for lockers it cover's a multitude of sin's.two pack will give you a car like/hard finish but doe's need spraying for good finish this wont go on top of single pack unfortunitly it react's with air dry single pack types. There Seaguard antifowling yous to last for four years on my last boat.John

Sabina have just done a very nice job on our boat and reasonable price too. Hand painted not sprayed. I have also had paint jobs done at Sutton Staithe which were very good.
