This has been much discussed in the the other place, the wording of the report from Richardson's is not that it is to close but that "FOR" the 2017 season all Horizon craft will move to Stalham. Not "From" the 2017, Therefore without further confirmation from Richardson's you can't say whether it is to close or to be temporarily shut to allow redevelopment for better use. I agree with Sheque1, the wording is FOR not FROM 2017. Add in the FACT that they have planning permission to demolish the old managers chalet on site and rebuild it as a holiday let and I would think they are moving hire boat operations for one year rather than try and operate from a building site. Of more concern might be their plans for Horning

Don't know for sure sure but think they are are finishing operations at the end of they year. Mick the manager is retiring. What a shame great yard and great staff. Where on earth are Richadsons going to moor their boats? Leaving the boat shed now is a nightmare. Another good yard gone. We used them for over twenty years before we bought our own.Really sorry to see them go.Wonder what will happen to all those moorings?

I've been saying for years that it should be a dual carriageway.

Before we all panic in the context of the number of boats already at Stalham Private and Richos and the different change over days how much difference is this really going to make in practise, not a lot I would suggest, I could be wrong but I believe some of the Horizon boats already operate out of Stalham, lets all wait and see before we start changing underwear. I am sure Richardson`s have thought this through before making the decision, like a couple of other large yards that have diversified I don`t see them making the decision lightly without taking everything into account. Cynical I may be but, I am willing to bet that profits and land value came before customer satisfaction in their decision to switch bases with possible chaos on change-over days being given hardly a passing thought. Accountants, not customer service managers run companies.

I have asked this elsewhere without response. I am sure I read somewhere a while ago that Richardsons were planning a base on the southern rivers, possibly in the Brundall area. Anyone else recall this?
