Hi All

I believe that hire boats can moor overnight at another hire boat yard. Pretty handy if your heading to some of the more popular places during school holidays, when its generally busier on the river.
My question is.........Can a private boat moor overnight at a hire boat yard? I don't expect it to be free, but I just wondered if a hire yard would accept a private boat if all the public moorings were full?

Cheers

Matt

Some do, Matt but I don't think it's a general thing.

Summercraft at Wroxham/Hoveton used to allow private boats to moor overnight...not sure if they still do though. There was a small charge I believe and the facility was, of course, not available on hire turnaround days.

Barnes Brinkcraft have a notice saying they do (its on the 'river side' of one of their fuel tanks) I'm sorry I forget the charges but they charge by size and restrict certain days of the week such as Saturdays.

Herbert Woods do, they also will let you use the electric supply, they charge you for a card and refund next morning, mooring overnight is £7.50,  and the showers have to be some of the best on the broads,£1 for 8 mins.

Hi All

Thanks for the info. Seems like a bit of a mixed bag then? Guess if you get to where your going and everywhere is full you just have to try your luck?

Cheers

best to just ask, most are fairly easy going, as long as not on change  over day.

I wouldnt go into Summercraft again, not after the way we were shouted at for pulling into their empty yard one sunday a few years back merely seeking a pumpout. I know Barnes welcome privates but as suggested avoid change over days, anywhere else I would always ring ahead just out of courtesy.

Unusual for Summercraft to be anything less than welcoming and courteous. Shame, but can't win 'em all I suppose!
