HI After spending our last holiday with our family on board a large 8 berth cruiser my wife and I fancy a week in September on board a small two berth cruiser but we quite fancy hireing one from an independent boat yard as a matter of change from the norm. Has any one out there any advice as to which boatyard offer the best service/value/boats to hire your comments would be most helpful. regards hollywood

There are three immediately obvious choices! Martham Boats, Maffett Cruisers and Pacific. If you fancy "traditional wood" for a change try Maffet at Loddon or Martham. Martham offer the advantage of being topside of the bridge of course! Pacific Cruisers are also at Loddon and include the famous "Chuggity Bob" within their fleet which you may well have read about and would seem to suit what you are seeking. My own choice would be either "Merlin" or "Swallow" from Maffett. Trevor www.normanboats.co.uk

Hi, I strongly recommend Ludham bridge boatyard. They have 2 brand new 2+2 25 foot cruisers based on the sheerline 740 built to an exceptional standard & high specification. Call 01692 631011. PS. They are not picnic boats......

All good advice and if I was in the same quandry I'd now feel spoilt for choice between a woody from martham and one of Jasons (LBBY) Rolls Royce sheerlines Griff

Don't forget that all the yacht hiring yards are also independent if you want something different.
