I've always found that the Norfolk Broads Yacht Company to be outstanding

We have hired from Royalls about 30 times over the last 15 years (including several winter holidays). I think that indicates that we are happy with them!

There's only one company on the Broads for us and that Moores of Wroxham. Great service and great boats. They always remember the folk who come back year after year too, just a little thing, but so important.Text

In what way did Richardson's let you down?   Ive always thought weve had superb service from them (and other New Horizon yards), in fact I find their approach more more friendly and welcoming than many of the little firms who whilst work to high standards are perhaps just not people people and some of whom could do with some lessons in customer service.

Sorry Dan a bit late on this one. first when picking San Benito up the mattress was damp.fair doos we hung around whilst it was put in a dryer 3 hours later we were off.chugged of down to Ludham Bridge where we moored up, an discovered no water. so moored alongside a nice couple who passed the hose over to us , 10 mins later full water tank, back to moor.up the local is it the DOG not sure back to boat.after a couple of pints. put the heating on big mistake, the batteries did not have enough reserve to cope, lights went dim so managed to start the engine, after a while bliss hot water heating what more can u ask well it started raining, did i mention the wet matress so moved into the other bedroom sorry cabin. well we heard this strange hissing noise .the hot water system tank is situated under the floor in the centre of the craft and it had a leak it was fine until the water got hot and pressure did the rest. and the final straw was when we got back to base the amount of fuel put in was obscene i paid and later complained an must admit got a refund. so DAN no water no fuel wet bedding and leaky plumbing. am i just being picky or what.cheers roya

Nope,
Your not being picky Roy, sounds poor I must admit, I wouldn't have been happy either.

I can only speak as I find, and I've hired a lot from them and reliability and general maintenance is probably one of the things that I rate them very highly on.

I wonder if the reason theyve sold all the San Benito's is as result of your troubles??!!!

All the best
Dan

Hi DAN had a go on a narrow boat this weekend.Superb. how do you or any narrow boaters think they will suit the BROADS.53 feet of HEAVEN i think with the bow thruster the rivers would not be to much, but the wind was shall we say interesting but are narrow boats great or what. just for you NIGEL i have not been drinking just high on BOATING cheers roya. ps posting notes on this site on our lap top this weekend was a challenge ,we will borrow a 5year old next time to put us right.

Hi Roy,
Glad to hear you've now given narrowboating a go, and enjoyed it!

I've had them on flooded (and non flooded!) rivers and they are great fun - on waters with depth (they're usually near on scraping along the bottom of the canal!) they are even more entertaining, Bristol Harbour is great fun with a narrowboat if you ever get chance to try!!

I think they would cope Ok with the waters of the Broads - they cope well on the Thames for example, although I think as the waters are less sheltered you may need a few more layers on!!

So which boat and hirefleet did you use?
